Who's going to Sunday's practice?

I was there too, and I got there at 9:30 a.m. and watched the beginning of practice from the parking garage - I have to disagree with you on Williams, I saw him throw and he has a good arm, made accurate throws all morning long and looks like a real QB. He did throw some low screens during that drill, but that is not enough to judge him on at this point. He has a strong arm and has experience, I say he has a legitimate shot to beat out Morris. Morris has shown that he has the tools, but now missing spring practice and his inconsistent past may give someone else a legitimate shot. I saw Dewey and Crow and I'm impressed by both young QB's, Crow has a gun and Dewey looks like he is a junior out there, very polished.

I say the future looks bright at QB for Miami - I agree that Crawford looks like he can be special, very quick and explosive and good hands - can't wait to see him play in a scrimmage. Scott caught everything thrown his way, he will be the #1 receiver on this team and will also return kicks... Cleveland looked good out there, and with his size he should have a very good year if they use the TE more often in this offense.

I was also impressed by Coach Golden coaching up the DB's all morning - he took it personally and was on their tails making sure they used the right techniques in locking up receivers and being in the right position to bump them off the line - I see this as a ray of hope that they will play more man to man and tighten up those soft zones. AG spent most of the morning working on those drills with the corners and even worked with the safeties on their technique. Great to see some real coaching taking place at practice for a change.... what a breath of fresh air.

Is it me or does our D-line look kind of small overall?

Great analysis! Like I mentioned before, I was there for only 45 min then the rains came. I was only able to see Williams throw the screen passes and he did struggle with his accuracy and setting his feet. But I agree with you that you can't judge on that one way or another. There is definately a long way to go in the battle between Morris & Williams. May the best QB win as that will make us a better team! I see that you also noticed Dewey the same way I did. He's Impressive!!

Yes sir! Dewey looks like he can play right away. He surely impressed me with his poise, his accuracy and his arm strength. He just looked like he is ready now; maybe that's because he was given a 5th year of eligibility in high school, so he is more experienced and mature than your average freshman. And having been coached in high school by Heisman Trophy Winner and 14 year NFL veteran Ty Detmer does not hurt either. Like I said, the QB position appears to be set for the near future at Miami, and we have not even seen David Thompson from Westminster Christian yet whom I think will be the best of this year's class (I hope he does not decide to turn pro in baseball). It will be interesting to watch this situation play itself out.... I'm just excited because we are on the way back to being Quaterback U again.flex

  • QB U is definately on the way back! You really think Thompson could be the best of the bunch? Your not the first person I hear this from.

I say that because I watched Thomopson play a couple of games in high school and I've talked to some people who know football and have seen him play, and they all agree that he has all the tools - he just looks like a QB - he has a strong and acurate arm and his baseball skills show on the field.. he's not the first QB to have also been a baseball star e.g., Dan Marino, Elway, etc...

When was the last time Miami had 4 QB's that you could say could play at this level? That's why I see QB U coming back.
