Who's going to Sunday's practice?

  • I will be at Sunday's practice and would like to know what most of you are curious to see or would like to hear about? I would have liked to have seem the competition between Morris & Williams at QB. I will be looking carefully at the competition on the offensive line. Also, I'm curious to see Ralphael Kirby at LB.

I gonna try to make it , but if I can't, can you let us know what players stood out. I'm curious about Dallas Crawford and Thomas Finnie. Also would like to know how Williams looked a QB.

I would love to know if Williams' arm is as strong as Morris'. Also, is his delivery fast? Sometime the big guys are a little slow on their delivery. Thanks man and have fun!!!

I definately will! You touch on 3 of the players that we are probably most curious about.

I will definately give you a report on Williams like I'm sure many others will. Like I've said before, having a good QB is half the battle. I like SM abilities but Williams is going to get a real opportunity. At the end of the day I just want the best QB to win out. That will hopefully get us half way back to the promise land.

  • I was able to attend Sunday's practice for about 45 min before the rains came in. Morris was not in pads but he was throwing. I was standing no more than 15 yards from him and I must say he's got a gun! To see him throw up close like that is quite impressive. I was also impressed with the explosiveness of Dallas Crawford. Wow! I truly see Dallas being a big part of our offense. Preston Dewey looked extremely polished. I do not see Ryan Williams beeting out SM at all IMO. His velocity was so-so and he had a bit of trouble settling his feet.

Your welcome Parker! I know it was not you but I can't believe somebody would down-vote me for saying what I saw. Wow!

  • Thanks vegacanes lets see if we can get you some up-votes. Who ever down-voted you doesn't have the marbles to tell us why. I wasn't at practice so I appreciate all the info!!!!

Thanks, I appreciate your comments...I guess somebody did not like what I said about either Morris or Williams. I can tell you that a good 10 people around me were saying the same thing I wrote. Williams threw about 5 screen passes in a row to Dallas Crawford, and all of them were below his waist. The positive thing was that Crawford caught all of them and then immidiately exploded upfield. There is a big surprise waiting for Canes-nation and it's called Dallaas Crawford! I will say, that of all the QB's including SM, the most polished one IMO is Preston Dewey. He just has QB written all over him!

Great stuff man. Thanks so much! Anything else stand out to you? Size of O-lineman? speed of receivers? Athleticism of Lb's? Strength of d-lineman? Good crowd? Jonesing for anything

Your welcome! I would say close to 300 people were there but that was mainly due to the weather. In fact, I was only there for about 45 min.
Rashawn Scott is the real deal! Thank God because we are desperate for receivers. Not bad for someone who was rated 2 stars. Great pick up by AG.
I notice that Linder has put on some good weight and Mike James is in tremendous shape. Also, Grey Crow does look like he weighs 230 lbs.

    vegacanes

  • Good stuff, Vega!

Hhhhhhmmmm could Preston Dewey be a sleeper and contend for the starting spot....

Preston is ahead of the game. He received better coaching then most high school kids. Looking forward to him being the future of Miami football.

Agreed. I love his tape regardless of competition. I can't wait to see him on Saturdays!

  • Does anyone know if he's a RS-Fr or So? I thought he was given a RS for last year?

Unfortunately Rashawn Scott is a SO.

Like I said earlier he truly is the most polished of all the QB's, but I believe IMO he gets redshirted along with Crow. This year's QB job is just between Williams & Morris and may the best QB win. I always say that a good QB is half the battle, so I truly hope one of these QB's shows the ability to at times take over a game and win it by themselves. Because as a team we are not there yet...

I was there too, and I got there at 9:30 a.m. and watched the beginning of practice from the parking garage - I have to disagree with you on Williams, I saw him throw and he has a good arm, made accurate throws all morning long and looks like a real QB. He did throw some low screens during that drill, but that is not enough to judge him on at this point. He has a strong arm and has experience, I say he has a legitimate shot to beat out Morris. Morris has shown that he has the tools, but now missing spring practice and his inconsistent past may give someone else a legitimate shot. I saw Dewey and Crow and I'm impressed by both young QB's, Crow has a gun and Dewey looks like he is a junior out there, very polished.

I say the future looks bright at QB for Miami - I agree that Crawford looks like he can be special, very quick and explosive and good hands - can't wait to see him play in a scrimmage. Scott caught everything thrown his way, he will be the #1 receiver on this team and will also return kicks... Cleveland looked good out there, and with his size he should have a very good year if they use the TE more often in this offense.

I was also impressed by Coach Golden coaching up the DB's all morning - he took it personally and was on their tails making sure they used the right techniques in locking up receivers and being in the right position to bump them off the line - I see this as a ray of hope that they will play more man to man and tighten up those soft zones. AG spent most of the morning working on those drills with the corners and even worked with the safeties on their technique. Great to see some real coaching taking place at practice for a change.... what a breath of fresh air.

Is it me or does our D-line look kind of small overall?
