I disagree a little. I think there are still plenty of defensive recruits from Dade who would like to play for a Randy Shannon led defense.

You are entitled to your opinion and there might be a few but for the most part, it would be a bad thing.

He did have great players but we also lost great players every year to the NFL but he still kept the D competitive when new players did get in.

And ad Darrin Smith stated many times and today, he doesn't like the D that we play. We play too soft. And he states by the 10th game youth shouldn't still be the main excuse. he puts it on coaching. When the excuse was that DP, EJ, and DB wasn't in the game, when they were in the game we still weren't good.

All of that makes sense to me.

You're actually wrong. Do you know who coaches Booker T.? Tim Ice Harris. You know who gave Ice a position at the U when BHarris was here? Randy. So you don't think Ice would possibly try to push Kirkland and Thomas to play for a Randy Shannon led defense, especially when Randy gave him an opportunity to become a better coach?

All I'm saying is they were young before too and had to be developed as well and his scheme probably had something to do with them playing well enough to be drafted. Remember, he asked his players to do different things than coach D is asking the current players to do. Maybe if Randy coached these same players our D would be more competitive than we were this year.

Agreed but that's the thing, I truly feel with a "different approach" we could've fielded a top 50 defense or better with these same young players. And with a top 50 defense we could've had at least 2 to 3 more wins. Had we improved this year and not became the bottom of the barrel on D this year, I would've given Coach D a break but I knew this year was gonna look like this so he blame falls on him, so I must continue to call for his head.

Question, bc we fans tend to say Miami don't have the budget but how do we know this especially since it is a private school and does not release the salaries of the employees... i think there's more money than we know but we assume there is no budget

You need to lay off Randy, one thing you can't say is he didn't have any bad Defenses Now he may burn some bridges but it ain't know way in Hell our Defense would be this bad, and He was The Coordinator of the year and had several years whereas our Defense finished in the top 10.

It's been well known for years Miami doesn't compete with the non-private state schools when it comes to salaries. If I remember right Golden's first contract was around 2 mill. The amount he got when he signed the extension is unknown.
