Miami is sitting at 31 commitments in the 2012 recruiting class and spots have gotten very tight with about two weeks left until national signing day.

  • Only four spots currently open unless Lockhart & Hoilett can get enrolled this week.

  • So we have 31 commitments and 7 just enrolled leaving 24 for the Fall. With the max being 25 do we only have 1 spot left provided no one else EE's or chooses to greyshirt?

That is my understanding cooks........What are we going to do if a couple of these big timers commit to us? ask others to grey shirt? we definitely need at least a couple of the possible EE to get it done so we have some breathing room for the finish! This is a great feeling though knowing its even possible to land some of these guys along with the class we already have in place. Golden Era

  • I think we will have at least 5 spots lefted because we dont knw who is gonna transfer out during the spring. We will have at least 4 kids that aren't gonna feel comfortable with the depth charts this year. Give me all the florida boys Howard, williams, Phillips , l.Williams , and young.

Cream, there's no doubt Howard would be a land and it's also a dang shame he isn't giving the local school more love. He has just never really given the Canes a chance. He has never really opened up to us but, if he chooses UFAG -He will regret that the rest of his life. The Gators are gonna land some good ones, they always will but, they will get slaughtered again this year with probably another 5 loss season. They just hired Peas, the O-Coord from Boise ST. and that gimmick off. will not work in the SEC. It may catch a team or 2 off guard early but, what stops this O is speed, and every SEC team has it. But, it really looks as if AG is gonna put the switch on OMARI if he comes. If he brings his parents-HE'S A CANE! It is already going around he is a silent commit so, I'll take him and just look at the shot we have with the other talent coming.
And on PJ- He loved UM and said-" He would know for sure once he visited TALLAHASSEE and, if it went that well, seems we would have heard- I'M a NOTE -That's it, it's over. Well, we haven't so, AG is gonna work him and who knows. He still may be a Mole but, He just hasn't come out and went crazy about his OV.
And with Goldman, the main recruiter that he had the best relationship with, has flew the coop and Aub. seems to be out of it as they are just a mess. Looks as if it will be us and THE HOLES so, never know on him.
I want Williams so bad, that cat is gonna be a " freak" he is gonna wreak havoc on QBs and I want him real bad. Picture this as our DE's and DL{ Just depends on where they play, and what D we are running but } CHICK- McCord?{ maybe LB } Omari- Williams - and if AG can work the MO-JO and get either Hamilton or Goldman { Me personally, I want Hamilton }. Just look at that young talent that all of them are gonna be QB killers. Our LBs are gonna get back to lighting some azzes up and our DB's will come around as Bush will make a huge difference and if we land Simon- he will put some punishment out too.
When I look at the possibility of what this class can end up with, it just gets me excited and ready to get it on. We're talking HUGE playmakers and game changers here, and AG is gonna keep bringing it as our 2013 class will be nothing short of spectacular. It is an exciting time to be a CANE and the sky is the limit for us. With this talent and future talent, AG is gonna build us a FORT not a House. We were calling them AG's ARMY but, if he comes through with these late ones we then will refer to them as AG's MARINES.

I'm just so excited and can't wait to hear the news out of the next 2 weeks and I just pray it goes our way. And if it does CREAM, Expect us to be competing for the ACC immediately and Nationally soon.

  • I'm probably wrong and if so please correct me but I think the 85 scholarship limit and the 25 newcomers per cycle are separate issues. No matter how many current players leave we still are only allowed 25 per recruiting year. Either way I'm confused lol

    cooks002

  • Never thought we'd actually get to the point where it's like, "Dang, which recruit do I want more?" lol

But, I'm with Havana on this one. I'm more into local studs, so I'll take the FL guys. I doubt we get Howard though, so I want us to at least get one more DB (Cole is the one I'm wondering about).

That being said though, can you imagine what would happen if we got Young and Brodie? Young, Brodie, Gadbois and Flowers as the O Line would be a sight to see.

you are correct cooks. we can max at 43(9 plus 25) assuming we get 2 more in early. the max is 25 and 85, this is not related to the guys that leave, transfer, etc . we will have about 5-7 that will HAVE to leave because with the 34ish we will be over the 85 total.

  • i dont think we are the favorite, per say, with any of these guys yet...AG and staff gotta be doing work

The NCAA allows football teams to add up to 25 new scholarship players to the roster per academic year, so long as the total number of scholarship players does not exceed 85.

Many of national schools over-sign each year, which is why the SEC is now banning that.

The reality is some kids won't qualify, and will go to prep school. Early Enrollees count for the previous year.

And this only assumes Football Scholarships that are being used. There are kids that could get baseball or track scholarships and also play football as a walk-on.

Also, some players could be asked to grey shirt.

Let Al get as many commits as he can, and lets them worry about the numbers.
