When Gulliver Prep linebacker Dominic Sheppard attended Miami's junior day on Saturday, he got a surprise he never expected.

  • This guy is a stud, this is what Larry Blustein said about him.

Dominic Sheppard, LB, 6-2, 200, Gulliver Prep: Here is the one player - who flew under the radar nationally - in the off season, but when all is said and done, this may be one of the top defensive prospects anywhere in the county. A big, fast and athletic play-maker!

  • He is big and athletic I wouldn't say fast he needs to be more explosive he is only a jun. coming into this year but he needs to get a little bit faster and he will be a monster of a inside linebacker

  • Guys is very athletic and good high school track athlete almost a 6 foot high jump and decent 200 meter 24.6 (down from almost 26 seconds a year ago) speed for a 230 pounder. This fellow with a good weight program can be a 250+ MLB.- never really done a strict program in this area. Explosion will be helped by a good weight program.

  • Really love this kid's pursuit. He takes great angles and is relentless. You have to love the potential with that frame too. He may grow into a DE depending on if he gets any taller. Great move getting in early on this kid.

Good point! He also runs the 400 meters in track in around 54 seconds for conditioning so he can have the relentless pursuit.

  • If he is 6'1"/ 6'2" now he will grow another inch or two, not to mention he will get bigger, stronger, and faster. Smart on Golden's part to offer this kid.

  • This offer scares me! It looks very much like the Collins offer last year. A kid sniffed out be Golden that was flying way under the radar, but when you watch his tape, he pops off the screen! I just hope he doesn't get flustered by the rush that will soon be coming his way!

Its almost like other schools wait to see who we dig up in south florida and then here they come!

All one can do is stay after them hard and heavy. Nothing is set in stone but this next year looks much better with this NCAA thing going down in flames. This guy has to me some Dant'a Hightower characteristics-- build and athleticism about him. A great type LB for a 3/4 defense in the middle at 255-265 pounds. May take a couple of years to get there.

Looks like he maybe a good MLB, but I don't know about that 3-4 crap. Dosent fit the talent pool here in south florida. In order to have a great 3-4 defense, you need great big DT's to eat up blocks and leave the LB's free. Even our all time great DT's, except for Wilfork, were not the biggest guys. They were very athletic and were great pass rushers from the middle. In a 3-4 DT are tought to basiclly hold their lanes and eat up blocks.

  • good point stout, only reason we lost guys like collins and thomas is because of the NCAA has their heads up their assess. AG did right on this guy. great starting frame canes need big boy in middle with speed

Collins had outside influences ( we know who) but that was key where nothing we could do would be enough so if its HIS recruitment then its interesting because i cant see the Canes slacking on a guy they offer early

I thn he NCAA was overstated with those guys especially with thomas his ass was never coming here but collins i think he did listen to people about that but it wasnt the reason wy we lost him it was the bs and pressure he went through where the Arkansas staff was a safe haven for him so the reality is we will never know if in a fair fight if we would've won

That's why I put in there about several years to develop. This K. Clark at Chaminade Madonna at 6.2-6.3 and 310-315 lbs. (junior) is the type than can possibly that play that position at he next level. He has a low center of gravity, explosion and power. Last I heard he was benching 420 and squatting 560+. He also plays NT in high school.
