UM Has More Local Targets in 2014

  • winning can be the best recruiter...

don't want to hear any more "bs" about canes offering and local talent bolting out of town. if there in an offer...either accept it or shut up. enough about miami not keeping local talent.

Winning is the main recruiter obviously, it showed last year. Anyone can blame ncaa fir last year but if they really wanted to come here then they could have figured out that the ncaa storm has broken up away from us and not that much harm will be done as it came down to signing day we need 9-11 wins this year to open these kids kids eyes, and with the talent were bringing back this is very realistic. This defense shapes up then will be doing work on the field and on that paper. ITS ALL ABOUT THE []_[]!!!!

  • This is a real good topic!! I my eyes Miami's 2013 recruiting class had no misses, for the simple fact every player had there opportunity to be a Hurricane.. Don't get me wrong AG didn't offer every player in S. Florida but at the end of the day he went after players that he thought would fit his system, and every main recruit had Miami in it til the very end BUT decided to go elsewhere.. And that alone says alot " They weren't feeling Coral Gable's!!"

Now it's the start of a new recruiting class and hopefully AG can jump on every top S. Florida recruit, BUT he can't lose focus on top OOS recruits because he's made strides forming a pipeline in other states... The bottom line is Miami fans have to move on from the things that happened with certain recruits in the 2013 class and just believe in AG.. Because IF don't think things will just change overnight, today's kids are very unpredictable.. AG needs to stock these team with 100%er's point blank!!!

  • I just would like for someone to explain to me " How do they consider a recruit going elsewhere a miss on AG's part?" Is it considered a miss because AG didn't offer a kid or because they didn't do enough to get the kid to commit or sign at Miami? Just wondering!!

I will say this to your question: First we will "miss" meaning the school for a plethora of reasons might not get a desired recruit. Also right now the potential of further sanctions have an adverse backlash because these jealous, scary schools use it to negatively recruit against the university. Nonetheless, the part that AG and the staff control is the targeting of kids early, connecting in a meaningful way, offering kids early that are deserving and if a kid is local and let's say he's a "3 star" {not that I follow the star system, but for point of reference} and there is a 3 star non local kid and all things grades, character are similar invest in the kid that's local. Why? I am glad you asked. Here's why; Football in South Florida and in general the state of Florida is rivaled only by Texas in pride, passion, popularity, and skill and Texas is bigger, even California is behind Florida. That being said a kid from Florida is more than likely going to be more skilled, faster, and have played against better talent and almost year around. Secondly, to build pride and community ties and inspire more local support and encourage kids to want to go to the U the staff has to show they are sold out for these kids and not selling them out by chasing other kids around the country. The staff has to do better and it would seem that so far this year they are. Golden has brought guys in that can connect and relate to the community before he only had Barrow and he was handcuffed by Golden in really digging in on some of the locals kids. It would seem it has been made very clear to Golden that he WILL NOT succeed doing what he had been doing. To answer further they have not offered early and in some cases have not went in as hard on some other kids or backed off prematurely or erroneously. Maybe Amari still would have gone to bama because he looked and say the chance to win a championship, but look at Joseph Yearby he switched to the U because of a long established relationship with Coley but what did he say when he did "I always wanted to stay home and play in my hometown and now I can." So then why was he committed to the noles? Probably because they were on him hard, heavy, often and established a strong bond mainly through Coley. If the staff here did not do that well that would have qualified as a bonafide miss!
