TE Johnson Commits To Miami

  • I'm not saying I don't like this guy I actually like him alot and I honestly don't have a problem with taking 3 TEs .. The only thing I was saying is when I break it down to the 20 kids I think we can and should take in this class even being conservative not taking "4 dts and 3 Cbs" I find it tough to squeeze in 3 TE but Like I have always said I trust golden and what he is doing but I would like to see a couple defensive commits role in that is just my opinion

  • Last time we got te's was in the 2010 class. Clive, Asante, and Andrew .. Andrew is gone and the rest of them are extra bodies in the running game. The fact that we stink in between the hatches is why we take 3 te's even though one looks like he's gonna be a ot at the next level.

So we are going to have 8 TE's on the roster next year? I'm sure the kid can ball but I just don't know with all the hub bub about spots. We can take this kid but not offer M. Alexander? Stupid.

We may have 8 kids listed as TE's but in reality we only have 2 viable players at that position. The rest were moved over there from other positions to provide depth and hopefully develop into solid blockers for the run game. Outside of Walford and Cleveland, there is no true weapon on our team at the TE position, and those two only have the potential to be good...they haven't done it yet.

Bring is all 3 if you have to. We need em.

Great pick up no dought .. By the way Kerr will be paying OL .. By the time he gets here and redshirts he'll be very close to atteast 300 pounder.. Both tightends they sign will be able to get down field very athletic..

Agree Kerr may start as a run blocking tight end and a short yardage tight end but will probably evolve into a tackle. Johnson ranked 77 in the ESPN 150 is good enough for me. High quality recruit.

If you care about rankings, ESPN is the most important to be highest in. Thats where you will get most of your recognition.

Come signing day, if your ranked in the top 10, recruits for the upcoming classes are going to take notice. And ESPN is where all of them will go check the rankings.

Surprisingly, ESPN favors a lot of our top targets for this cycle. Thats gonna help a lot since this is going to be a small class.

Cunningham, Bain, Travis Johnson, and Dobard are all ranked a lot higher on ESPN then most other sites.

    Anybody remember him?

Eric Winston played high school football at Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas, where he was ranked amongst the most talented high school tight ends in the country.

He chose to attend college at the University of Miami after being heavily recruited by several other schools. During his time at Miami, he moved to the OL and drafted in the 3rd rd as well as All-American status........

So yes, this could be Kerr as well IJS.......blank

There's one very big difference between the two. Eric was 270lbs when he showed up on campus and wit took hard work to keep him there his fresh year. By eric's soph year he was over 290lbs! Kerr is only 230 and I just don't see him putting on 60-70lbs in the next 2-3 years. I think he will be a very good TE for us at around 260-265lbs. Any more then that, he risk being injury prone.

Exactly Tampa! Some of these cats on here just live for speculations. Kerr will be a TE period! Johnson has the option to line up at a WR position in certain packages.
