Ok got it, Brian Rolle, 5'9 225, middle linebacker at Ohio state, kid was an absolute stud, ran a 4.57 forty....

    Immokalee is decent though.

Lulz. Ray Lewis played at Kathleen which is 6a. Not exactly cupcakes.

Without a running clock, they would beat Lake Mary Prep 200-0. Yes I'm serious.

Talent level of competition doesn't matter as much as people think it does.

I know for a fact that Trent Richardson played against some of the crappiest competition Florida has to offer.

Anyone with half a brain still knew that kid was a beast and that he would go on to dominate.

Not sayin Lewis III is on par with TR, just using their similarly bad competition to prove a point.

ok, so it wasnt Ray that i was thinking of. doesnt change my view or statement. still havent heard anyone dispute my statement about us having plenty of talent over the past 8 years, just not the heart or drive needed to succeed. maybe, just maybe, AG is a little better at evaluating talent than some of the people on the boards that haven't so much as seen film on the young man. Or for that matter a whole whopping 4minutes of film. i used to think armchair QB's where funny. but the guys that outright say someone doesnt deserve a scholly with so little info is just ridiculous.

PS, Scott, i love ya man but you cant claim that you care less about up and down votes, yet post a topic about it. if you truly didnt care you wouldnt of even wasted the time, haha.

  • Not my point about high school.... Hell will likely runs 4.7, jayron hosely undersized

Reason I mentioned role is measurables and he still rocked the MLB position at OSU at 5'9 225 lbs...

Its not far fetched to see RLIII gain an inch and possibly be productive. I personally didn't see it coming, but I'll welcome him like I did Nate Dortch, and Hunter Wells

  • I'm all for offering the kid a scholarship... but I just think people should have reasonable expectations for what it is.

I think he could be a ST starter here & maybe even a good one... That's 1/3 of the game. Good enough for me.

  • Maybe you should start a petition to have the scholly taken away. Just kidding. But let's support our team and staff, you never know what this kid can do. Or would you rather offer another Kyle wight, leggett or best of all Willie williams? Bottom line, the kid has character and work ethic.

Scotty your way out of line here.....when your part of Goldens staff then you can have a say.

Also whos to say Ray doesn't pay his tuition? Hes a cane to the end and knows by doing that UM gets his son and doesn't lose any schollys

that is not saying much being from what area you are from. I would really like you name some top teams nationally from from your area. The state of FL puts around 2 to 5 every single year in the top 25 nationally. So this equals are lower lever teams are probably just as good as you best across the board

Lol dude, where in any of this am I saying anything about where I live? I actually have no idea where this came from... Cretin-Durham Hall (Seantrels school) and Eden Praire, are 2 of the higher ranked teams in the state. They're frequently in the top 50 somewhere and once in awhile will crack the top 25. But I'll be honest I don't pay any attention to the HS rankings unless a game from SoFla is on ESPN or something and I wanna see a kid I haven't seen play before play some ball. I'm sorry dude... But I've got no clu where this came from... The closest I've come to relating him to me was when I said I was 6'8" by the time I was a Junior. I state all the time (or used to at least) that I was a bum in highschool and never applied myself. But that's not what's important. I think I answered your question though?

  • Once again Scott this is way to childish, I thought the original thread you were way outta line but to start a new thread is over the top. It's cool to have an opinion about your beliefs, but to continually come on here and bash a new member of this family is disgusting! Because of the level of talent he played against in high school?? Since when did that make Criterea for someone to develop into a great football player? You keep stating with so much pation that this isn't the year to offer R3 because of limited schollies, so obviously you don't think Golden knows what he's doing, because I'm pretty sure he already knows a rough number of Scillies he will have for the next two to three years! You really are starting to sound like a D bag, with all the ranting and raving about this kid. Hell I can remember not to long ago when you were on here telling everyone you wanted a chance to play for the U. Not one time do I remember any fans come on here and bash u and say u weren't UM caliber. As a matter of fact I and a bunch of posters gave you words of encouragement. You should really check yourself!

Lol Guys. In what way have I been "BASHING" him? Many of you are taking personal shots at me for what? Not believing in giving a schollie to a kid who isn't even unanimously a D1 level prospect?? Have I in any way said that I hope he rots in hell, or dies on his way to school, or that he should never step foot on a field again? No. I haven't.

The reason I made this as a new thread whether you believe it or not is more for the votes than it is anything. Lol so many people get either pissed off because they got a down vote or they go through and if you say something they get all upset and down vote every post you've made. Call it what you will. Misguided, Whorish, whatever I don't care... Give me a down vote... show me whats up. lol ;)

So basically, you guys are saying that even though I think about canes, rep the canes, love the canes with all my heart and always will... That I can't be a TRUE cane fan because I disagree with one kid getting a schollie that doesn't deserve it? You guys wanna come bash me, hey. Thats fine.

About the actual football aspect of your post. Yes, I have been training to play football. And yes. I have received many statements of well wishes and those ARE much appreciated. But this is like Golden giving me a call and saying SON... YOU GOT YOURSELF A SCHOLARSHIP!! While hey, it could very well come to be a fruitful decision. That is another scholarship that could have gone to the MANY talented kids in SoFla this upcoming season. Many people are saying its ok because of who his dad is. This seems far too hit or miss to me. (more miss than hit) And yeah I trust the Tie. But why else should he get a schollie? You guys probably wouldn't think this was a good idea if the name weren't attached to it.

Lastly, Im done with this thread. Its reached its measure of arguability... Its all going in circles.... again. I don't care what you guys say... This is the internet and not many of you know me. Ive been called a Bi$tch, Ive been called a whore... People are telling me I need a tampon. Meh. Ok. But let the records show, that I have not said one defamatory or made one derogatory comment on ANY of my posts. Im not leaving the site and I look forward to many more arguments to come. SEEEEEEE YAHHHHHHHH Time to study for my last mid term.

Oh yeah. +1s for everyone. Lol now that its a new day and I got them. Time to pass em out.

    CFLACane

  • Ok here goes reasons why he deserves a schollie

#1 is the kid talented enough to play CFB? Yes, he does not have a Reggie Bush highlight reel but he can play.
#2 Competition sucks you have a legit argument but the Production is there 500 yards in a game and 13 YPC, what do you want to see 20 YPC? 1,000 Yards in a game?
#3 He is a talented athlete, he can dunk a basketball at 5'8 and has 4.5 speed.
#4 His dad was a late bloomer, he was not the 250 lb stud you see in the NFL today when he stepped on campus in 1992, so his son may very well be a late bloomer as well, he could project to be 5'10 205 lbs cat quick stud RB or a instinctve safety in a couple of years.
#5 He is a high character guy adn we need that to grow the culture and improve this team.
#6 He would be with us 5 years and his dad and all the good that comes with his dad hanging around campus, who knows the affect that has on recruiting on the teams morale and attitude and even our athletic dept gifts grants etc..

Reasons why he would not deserve a schollie

#1 Right now he would be somewhere between the 84-85th most talented kid on our roster if he does not grow or get stronger or get better.

Furthermore you are a pure hater, People do care that we talk to these kids that is why you PAY MONEY to a website to read about what these kids say. So if I happen to talk to some of these guys and give everyone FREE INFO that sometimes is better then what we get here, because i am not a reporter kids feel comfy to tell me the straight scoop. Lots of people have written me thanking me for my info, what do you contribute to the world? Nothing.
Be a real fan buy tickets and cheer the team but if you want to bash #1 Cane Legends and their family. #2 Recruits that our staff has evaled and decided to offer #3 fans that go out of their way to find nuggets of info or other tidbits to provide to other fans then you are not a real Cane fan and you have no clue what it is like to be a fan.

Great post, my man. This kid is invaluable to us. HAD to get him.

I wonder how many recruits we're going to get now in the next five years because Big Ray is gonna be at every spring practice and workout?

  • I dont really have a strong opinion on this, there are reasons supporting both views... so Ill just say this: I highly doubt Ray Lewis would want his kid to get a scholarship based on his name alone (he would want him to earn it), even though there is no way he would probably allow him to play anywhere else. Does anyone honestly think he wants his kid to skate through life or get all the breaks because hes Ray lewis' son? Secondly, Scott is right, we are going to have reduced scholarships as it is, so anyone who is emphatically behind this decision doesnt have a reason to complain when our depth chart is depleted or if we are plagued by injuries...its no longer a valid excuse if were giving away scholarships based on legacies. The one thing that does bother me though is that the same people that are for this decision are also the same ones who were talking crap about Keith Brown trying to get his brother a scholly last year and talking about how his parents should be ashamed because all theyre teaching their kid is how to get a free ride in life and take the easy way to success, etc. the other thing about this decision is all Golden has been preaching since hes gotten here is accountability, and opportunities based on merit, this move does not support or reinforce the philosophy he has preached for over a year. The hypocrisy is deafening...

PS. I guess I am leaning a little towards this not being a good decision but mostly it is because of the reasoning and timing of the decision, not necessarily the decision itself because it would also be a questionable decision to not have him be a Cane. I believe they owe him a long look because his name is Ray Lewis, not necessariily a scholly.

I don't see the 4.5 speed but if he can really dunk a basketball, that is super impressive.

Mods should probably lock these threads now. Some love this. Some hate it. Some understand it & are fine with it. (Lamp) Regardless, welcome to the U young man. Very happy for the Lewis family. Nobody bleeds orange & green anymore than they do.

At the end of the day, we offered, he commited, END OF STORY.

There's no hypocrisy. Keith Browns brother was never offered...Lewis was. Now if you want to interject your theory he was offered based on lineage that's fine but you have 1/10th the information Golden has.
