Robinson chat on TOS

  • Ferman had Robinson for chat session today. Questions were filtered and watered down. About 30 guys quit the site because of this.. Robinson said : (1) Shannon didnt know about the violations (2) Thinks original Shapiro article is 100 percent correct( even though he used hearsay sources). (3) Thinks UM violations are garden variety and nothing extraordinary. (4) Used one source to finger Golden without corroboration. Says he seemed believable. (5) Says he is still investigating (6) Says NCAA wants nothing to do with him. (6) wouldnt comment on the Dequan Jones denial by Allen in his deposotion.. Says its not his fault Jones was suspended.

    This is a very cold fish. He destroys people and doesnt even blink an eye. He will get some payback one day.

  • This Robinson character is a POS. He throws shit on the wall and waits to see if it sticks. No wonder the NCAA doesn't want anything to do with him.

    The part that cracked me up the most was him saying someone told him about Golden and he seemed legit so he believed it. What a freaking idiot!

  • Well consider me # 31. Was frustrating to watch "how do you compare this to UNC" type questions when Fogg had, in my opinion, a "silver bullet" type question that would have really been interesting to hear.

  • Robinsons a joke! I respect good and respectable journalism in all but these reports he's telling are for the most part full of nonsense! I'm a die hard U fan and I'm not saying this based off of this notion but at the same time, he's reaching in some of this and I'm glad to hear the NCAA doesn't want anything to do with him!

  • Hey guys, I belong to TOS because I can't get enough Canes! I will say I greatly enjoy this site more, better interface, better bloggers, and better interactions with the writers.

    First of all, I think we need to stop attacking the messenger. It is called Ad Hominem attacks and are logical fallacies. Attack his arguments.

    That being said, I was upset at the meatballs that were sent Robinson's way.

    Couple highlights

    I asked if he knew whether the NCAA was aware of the charges he made prior to the article coming out. He claimed to not know this information (the NCAA doesn't talk to him).

    He has not been able to engage in any conversations with Miami, Missouri, Florida, and all characters involved. They all have denied statements.

    As far as the sensationalism (of the first article in particular), he seemed to give a perspective that the article was meant to be more of an implication of the rat, not of Miami.

    He also did say that by all accounts; Miami has cooperated with the investigation and that it should benefit them as compared to what UNC did for example.

    One question in particular I asked and it was not passed on, was in regard to Marcus Robinson, and how the NCAA "vindicated" him of any wrong doing. Yet he was one of the 72 players accused.

    I don't appreciate Charles Robinson's reporting but he is a symptom of a larger problem with media. Ratings are the name of the game. The best thing we can do is properly formulate rebuttals to his arguments.

    It's been a tough time for all of Hurricane Nation lately, so I understand the frustration.....but damn if it doesn't seem like I was redirected to perez hilton every time I log on to TOS

  • I think ITU is gaining steam, however, all the current football team players only look at TOS. don't think they heard of ITU.

    I agree with you 100%. But especially in investigative reporting, the articles have to be fuild. The Marcus Robinson example is perfect. The fact he hasn't corrected that, opens him up to attacks on his character.

    The question I'd love for him to answer is that of the abortion claim. In his article he claims that a bodyguard approached Shapiro for money claiming a member of UM's team impregnated a stripper. Did Shapiro ever ask for proff? Did he ask her to do a paternity test? How do we know the bodyguard and stipper weren't in cahoots and scammed NS?

    I would of loved to have asked that question. But I'm not a member of TOS b/c it sucks!...booya!!
