    and we arent being investigated? you did specifically mention the suspensions... why are you bashing other schools for investigations and underperforming with top 10 classes when we are being investigated and have underachieved even more with top 10 classes? either we underachieved with the 08 and 09 top 10 classes or the past 2 less than stellar classes proved that the ratings were more accurate than not...its got to be one or the other. Muschamp is a new coach too, fischer is in his 2nd year, so is Kiffin. and preseason rankings are 100 times more subjective than recruiting rankings. USC and Uf were never in the convo for NC, and I was on a crusade in AUgust wondering why everyone thought FSU was so damn good (top 18 was my thought). so my opinion is that hype was based on nothing other than their classes and winning their bowl game (which is almost an even dumber reason). what are you talking about here...performance relative to recruiting classes or performance vs. NC expectations because they arent the same thing.

    If you saw my earlier post and understand the topic of this thread, you will see that I did bash that 2008 class!!! That was one of the bases of my argument! That you need more 2-3 star players on your team to 1) build a base and attitude. 2) they tend to be mor coachable, because they have been babied their whole life!!!

    Shockey was the third in a long list of great TE's from the you, not the first! Mcgahee, Gore, and Portis all had to sit before they played, ditto for Winslow. Wilfork wasn't even a full-time starter at the "U", Taylor was a special teamer until Reed and Lewis left. After that season everybody started to do the 3 and out thing and Coker did not know how to replace what was leaving. He would just go by the stars and most flopped!!!! Kyle Wright, Willie Williams, Jared Payton.....

    I have no idea what youre talking about...Gore replaced WIllis who replaced Portis who replaced Jackson who replaced James. each one only had about 1 good year (usually their 3rd year) before they left for the pros so how does that prove your point? we won when people were leaving early for the draft but we arent now, thats the only difference. we used to reload at every position, now we might get a keeper every couple of years, and once they have a decent season theyre off. you said you win with seniors and guys who play 3-4 years, well I jsut pointed out that we won for several years with guys who only actually played 1 year before bolting to the pros. but youre saying its impossible to win like that again, so we should go for more 3 stars who will surely stay all 4 years?? If thats what youre saying I dont agree, sure its probably more consistent record-wise (8 wins maybe) but it doesnt give us the possibility of getting 10-11 wins. Id rather have a higher ceiling with the occasional letdown year than jsut be a consistent mediocre team with no expectations.

    Ok...then I will be looking forward to the day when a team with no top ten classes wins the nc. That should prove your theory

    this post is unrealistic...you cant have too many projects becasue thats like a doctor having too many patients, once you get to a certain point, you cant help them all and pretty soon none of them are as good as they could be because you have only so much time to spend with each one and their time gets neglected. and if you think all these "projects" we have in this class are going to be 5 star studs, youre insane. and the foundation in your metaphor is usually your best players or your seniors, not your freshman in you under-rated recruiting class. In the end, its starting to sound more and more like the reason we are getting these low-rated kids is because we cant get anyone else, but people are jsutifying it by labeling them a "project" or "diamond in the rough". If we start to see success, i hope im wrong but these are coming in a lot faster than the recruits we have been targeting for a year or more now...now all of a sudden we immediately offer a guy and he commits and were the only ones that know it, and were suposed to expect him to be a stud? I have a hard time jumping on that bandwagon.

  • My point was that those guys had to wait their turn, be back ups, get stronger, and then they could have their one year in the spot light and go pro. These won't do that!!! How many times do you here guys saying "I'm looking at the depth chart"!!! Just think if Mcgahee said hell, Portis and Edge are already there so I'm going somewhere else. Or Andre Johnson didn't want to wait behind Santana Moss and Reggie Wayne!!! This is what were facing now! Before kids would wait there turns, now it's three and out, so who wants to wait 2-3 years before they even see the field? Shockey and Dorsey stayed until their SR years and we benefited from the leadership! When that group left, yes we have had talent but we have had no leadership!!! That is my main point!!!

    I Can agree with some of this, except Shockey went pro after his junior year. there used to be a feeling that even if you werent playing you were still getting better due to the competition and would eventually get your chance. Players still do that, jsut not for us anymore. now they do it for Bama and LSU and wherever the hell Urban is coaching. Richardson was willing to play behind Ingram before he got his chance, but the probability of winning in the process makes that much easier. ITs hard to tell a kid to sit on the sidelines for 2 years and watch the season turn out like the last 2 have for Miami. players will only do that to win 'ships, play for a great coach or play with great players. we used to have all 3, now the players arent sure about any of them.

  • Look at it this way, we are a 500 Team, we aren't even ranked we have pending sanctions looming and tough academic requirements so to come up with a top 10 recruiting class is still an accomplishment. There is no way after a 6-6 season and given the recent history are we going to be grabbing 5 and 4 stars over Alabama, LSU ect... U.M. right now is a tough sell, I know myself and other Canes Fans couldn't imagine going to any other university but for people looking at it from an unbiased perspective may not think the same. I know technically this should be the class that starts the Golden Era but i see the 2013 class as the real class that would kickoff the new Era. We absolutely must have a good year in 2012 only then do I think the 2013 Class will yield better quality results. Its just my opinion but it seems to me that while recruiting for talent Golden is also trying to establish an Identity, a culture at U.M. by bringing in guys with good work ethic, drive and a love for the U. The locker-room atmosphere is a bigger part of the game than most people think and its a different world when you have a team full of guys buying into the program, hungry to win and want it bad. Why did we hang with every team we played this year, this was basically the same players as last year? To me it was better scheme, coaching and ATTITUDE.... When you can establish this culture, have a solid season then in 2013 you mix in some five stars with a strong locker-room and i believe we have the potential to Extremely Dangerous.

    Scott, I love you man( no Homo) and would love for the Miami Hurricanes to pick-you-up too, so that I can proudly say " hey, I know that guy, that's my boy Scott making all type of play on the field." But we need to crawl before we walk, and walk before we run. So if Miami picks you up! You would be consider a project(no disrespect intended) to many of the subscribers on here. Will they cheer you on ? of course, because we know you and will they feel that Miami had made a bad choice, nope,I don't think so because they know you. So once again brother, have some faith, believe in this coaching staff because they will teach theses kids how to play hardcore football.

    No trust me I know. Im just saying I don't want a team full of guys that are gonna need a year or 2 to contribute. Im not saying that its really a bad thing that we are getting these guys by any means. But I WOULD wish I could know what it is exactly that Golden sees in this kid. I don't think many of us have seen his tape, so I don't have much to go on. But what I am going off of right now is he had 2 offers that I know of. Thats the thing that makes me wish I knew more.
