POV: Luginbill on Eddie Goldman

  • This is another "What's your POV?" thread.

Tom Luginbill reports that Eddie Goldman's main weakness is the fact that he's not consistent. One play he's great, another play he's bad. In his words, "Goldman plays when Goldman wants to."

What's your opinion on that evaluation? If that evaluation is true, I think we can all agree that that brings back nightmares of our team's inconsistency over the past 4 years.

Except.... AG will teach him to play hard on every down (during practice and games) to earn and maintain the right to play. Last year was a transition year and while AG praised the team for 'buying in', it's clear in hindsight that many of the players did not. Not so for the coming classes (hopefully!).nono

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I don't want Goldman AT ALL; and I completely agree that Golden will train him to swirl that attitude. However, it's something to look out for and then fix if this evaluation is true.

I knew it.. His stats say it all.. 37 tackles while playing in Maryland. If we add Goldman gd but if we don't I will be ok with briscoe and Moore.

Not to worried...when you are bigger and stronger than EVERYONE you play against in high school it is very easy to take plays off because you are still much better then your backup, once he gets to college he'll realize he has to give it 100% or sit the bench

It might be too late for him by then. It all starts in high school. Work ethic tends to carry over.
