NATION-WANNA HEAR SOME STADIUM CRAP.....

  • Iwas just reading on ESPN where the BAYLOR NATION has made strong concerns they want a campus stadium for their team. And it specifically said -BAYLOR NATION -And it said that it is getting strong interest and the schools brass are looking into plans to design and look at the plans for a stadium. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT CRAP, BAYLOR'S NATION CAN GET A STADIUM-THE CANE NATION CAN'T EVEN BE HEARD -BS!!!!!!!!
THis is dam pitiful when a team that has 5 NC's, has had the best team in CFB history and we can't even get talk of a stadium. This kind of crap just burns my azz. Man, if we can't get SHALALA to listen- we as the CANE NATION have to start calling for her job. This is just not an academic school. Our FB team has made this school and I'm dead serious. If she won't listen, SHE HAS TO GO-PERIOD. No woman should have the descion over sports anyway especially a school of this staure. A whole fan base across this NATION, would do whatever it takes and a school like BAYLOR , can get it done by their little fan base4. No way they have the fan base as the CANES. FROM COAST TO COAST-THIS IS JUST BS-AND I'M TIRED OF THEM IGNORING THIS FACT THAT WE HAVE TO HAVE OUR OWN STADIUM AND THE FB PROGRAM DESERVES IT AND HAS EARNED IT-POINT BLANK!!!!

    GOD - COUNTRY - CANES CANE 4 LIFE !!!!!!

  • Dude, settle down. Baylor University is in Waco, TX. There isn't s..t there and PLENTY of land everywhere around the campus. You can't just build a stadium without some real estate and it's not cheap around or near UM!!! Get a grip!

  • Didin't we signed a long-term lease with Sun Life stadium anyway?

You make a lot of great points, but there is nothing that can be done, so why even bring it up? Don't get me wrong, dreaming is a beautilful thing, but it only frustrates us more!

  • Just keep winning and after a while no one will even notice the stadium. It looked pretty good to me while attending the Duke game loco

  • Only reason sunlife is getting the upgrades is because the super bowl committee told them they had an unsafe stadium to reapply to host another superbowl for the next five years... Super bowl committee requested for it to be covered just in case we host another super bowl and it rains during the game.. Well in total they requested 300 mil in changes to the stadium in order for sunlife to host another superbowl .

You would think, however, that while you're upgrading the place you could take some relatively inexpensive steps towards making the place more intimidating. Move the seats closer to the field...there's no baseball anymore, so no worries about making the seating situation permanent. Make the seats more vertical so more are closer to the field. Put those noise-trapping panels along the roof like a lot of soccer stadiums have, etc...Plus, seeing as the Dolphins have television problems because they can't sell out games, why not tear a few seats out and lower capacity while moving more of the seats down a level?

It's a 25+ year old stadium now, so getting it upgraded and modern is important.

    Go Canes!

  • An on campus stadium would not change anything "Some" Life Stadium does not already offer, except in the look of the stadium and no alcohol sales. Sure, the atmosphere would appear less corporate than a pro stadium but its the people who attend these games that drive the atmosphere. The schools interest is purely based on ticket sales. We all know UM is a small private school. From what I found they have a little over 15,500 students enrolled. Compare that to the other major state schools. Florida has 50,000+ students and Florida State has 40,800+ students. Their students alone already have a bigger crowd then what we see at most UM football games, O.B. and post O.B. Moving closer to campus is not going to bring more money or people to games and the school knows this.

They knew the majority of their season ticket holders came from the north and the location of Sun Life was perfect. A reasonable distance from the campus and closer to those who drive their bottom line. I live in West Palm Beach and I have made the trip a few times to attend games at the Orange Bowl. Since they moved to the pro stadium I have been a season ticket holder. The guy sitting to my right drives from Tampa every game. The guy to my left drives from Orlando with his family. The guy that sits behind me, Boca Raton. I think you get the picture. Average attendance for home games in 2001 was 47,132 and for 2010 it was 52,575.

A small student body, spread out fan base, not in the middle of nowhere and every game is on TV are the main reasons you have a relatively small crowd each Saturday and very little atmosphere. Its not because the stadium is not on or near the campus. You want to see 10,000 more people showing up on game day? Play Florida State every game, black out the local TV market during home games and/or win. If you really want the administration to look at building a stadium on campus, start by selling out the arena during basketball season, that might get their attention.

  • sorry to add to the frustration but we as Nole fans wish you guys could find the land too. If you guys could just build a "nice" not "state of the art" ~55K seat stadium with great acoustics within 3-5 miles of campus it would be epic. And yes, I believe this is major issue for your program going forward. Enough to where surely something will be done.

Each ACC team was making 5.8 million in tv money a year up until last year, when Pitt and Syr are added each team reportedly will get 16.4 mill a year. Maybe some of that money could be used to buy side by side lots or something, I dont know.

  • Only way we're getting a stadium in the Gables is if it floats above the Gables.

Thaks for pointing out the obvious for us and giving us a perspective from another fan from a different program...

Now it's near impossible to get a stadium in Coral Gables let alone on campus, but there are other sites out there that would work.

I know we have mentioned tropical park a bunch of times, but I'm thinking more downtown Miami somewhere like Key Biscayne or how bout on the Turnpike side by 826 or is it 836? Out there by the mall. There's plenty of land out in that area and you would have the mall right near the stadium.

Anyways thanks for the input fsufsu and see you guys this Saturday in your own Stadium called Doak Campell not Sunlife Less !!

  • Is Homestead or south of Campus not an option? Seems like ish clears out pretty quick down there, it's all about having a place of your own.....and the highway would still get most folks there in under an hour for sure.
