Huh...isn't Football is a team sport....its all about the U. Team comes first..... kids future??hmmm250k education.....and if they have dreams of the nfl, they have to work hard for it.....

I downvoted you simply because the comment above... as a coach i live off team first no matter what... you don't like it go play golf!!!!

i hate when people talk about free education. there is nothing free. they put many hours into honing there craft which in turn generates millions of dollars for the university, your looking at football from a fans perspective and not from the players prospective. the university isnt gonna pay his bills in the future so the coaches need to look out for the players future and if not the coaches then the player has to take it into there own hands...that was his point which is very valid

i kind of respect your opinion,.. hahaha. so here is my rebuttal

"they put many hours into honing there craft" - so do the kids that have academic scholarships,. they don't get to keep their scholarship by maintaining a 2.0 gpa,....

"the university isnt gonna pay his bills in the future" - again,.. the Univ isn't going to pay the bills of someone that attended their school on an academic scholarship. maybe if some of the kids would take school seriously and do something crazy like, i dunno.... FINISH IT, they wouldnt need to rely on anyone to pay their bills.

i dont know how you think most people make it through college,.. like there is some magic college fairy that grants them free school or something. but, most of them either take out loans that they end up paying back for many years after they are finished. others work multiple jobs just to keep them in school. while others like myself served in the military and after a more than reasonable contribution to a college fund are given what amounts to a scholarship. however you cut it, i don't think there is any argument to them deserving more. i for one would of loved to of received an education solely based upon my love for a certain sport,..

its laughable what people can complain about.

there are non athletes who do research and may also bring money to the school. maybe not in the millions. how will you able to distinguish between a QB selling his jersey versus a microbiology student who discovered a new virus?

also what about high school athletes who also bring money to the school? we going to start paying them?

hell yea im jealous of the ones that get full rides to play a sport,.. who wouldnt be? i play competitive sports for a hobby and these guys get full rides,..

work hard at a sport for education > work hard at staying alive in a combat zone for an education

i hate golf,. but your out your damn mind if you think i wouldnt take a scholarship for playing golf.

  • and if you want to be more technical about it,.

im more jealous of the guys that dont have the academic credentials to warrant going to college without playing a sport. in my opinion if you think you deserve more when your at a "SCHOOL" take your ass to the canadian football league or the arena football league and earn your way to the NFL that way.
