The best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing - Teddy Roosevelt

So if he wants to be hurricane it's pretty simple...show up. Golden is doing exactly what he said he was going to do. Exclusivitity is the key to south florida recruits....you may turn off a few recruits who want to be pampered and handed what most schools hand them...but we are not most schools...and if you want in...you gotta work. Granted it would suck to lose these two guys in the short term....but this philosophy of his could pay much bigger dividends in the long run. I know there are always financial or logistical reasons for a recruit not being able to make visits...but let's be real...it's not that damn hard to make a trip down alligator ally.

    well said.

firstly i have to start by saying i have not watched any film of these young men. but, i hardly see an issue with AG requiring a kid to come to a camp/ visit before he offers them (especially if they live in FL). we may miss out on some elite guys, but it also works the other way. we make sure we are getting elite guys! so many times coaches get caught up with the film of guys and have no real idea who they are recruiting. do they have the temperament, work ethic, do they actually think the UM campus fits for them? there are many aspects that go into not only getting a top talent, but having that top talent succeed because they are happy at that university and their values match that of the coaching staff.

the Itown boys should not look at this as a negative, but a positive. if AG and staff are going to be that critical of them, imagine the evaluation process for the guys that haven't displayed their type of talent! less likely hood that scholarships would be wasted.

  • Guarantee if Mackensie calls up UM himself, he'll see that he has an offer. His coach is confused and is giving him the wrong information. If he is thinking of going to the U, he'd call whomever is recruiting him and ask.

Spoke to Mackensie right before he left to the prom on saturday, HE FLAT OUT TOLD ME THAT MIAMI HAS NEVER OFERED HIM, AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT UNLESS HE ATTENDED A CAMP....HE IS FULLY QUALIFIED ( academics) AND HIGH ON THE ALABAMA, AND LSU BOARD, WE STAND VERY LITTLE CHANCE OF SIGNING HIM OR HIS BORTHER...UNLESS GOLDEN CAN WORK HIS MAGIC....he could not belive it...he was flat out shocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus. I am so tired of the whole come to camp for a scholarship for STUD in state prospects but a random out of state 6'6 first year tight end has one?? I trust coach golden but this is beyond ridiculous. No wonder so many local coaches were reportedly upset with him. Smfh

  • I wouldn't care what your name was, how many stars you have, or how many other schools have offered you. If travel is not an issue for you and you want to be a Hurricane, then you better be at camp. If your to good to show up at camp then you must be to good to play for Miami!!!

  • Another thing to remember: If we don't get these twins, it's not as if Miami is ruined for the next 4 years.
Personally, I think any cornerback who is considering committing to Miami has to bleed Green and Orange because after last year's haul of a half dozen or so db's, including Howard and Bush, a lot of these stars who want to play early, might be intimidated by the serious competition for reps.
It's not like our team is filled with scrubs.
For a lot of these entitled kids, and I'm not saying the Alexander boys are that way, but it just seems like these high national recruits like being catered to, Miami is not the easy way.
Let's face it, there is going to be an ongoing battle for playing time at most positions, and recruits in the future, no matter how highly ranked, are not going to be guaranteed starting positions.
They are going to have to work harder, and basically be better than anyone else to play, and they are going up against top athletes, and hopefully after this year, top football players.

It's a serious uphill climb for anyone, and it takes a lot of "want" to take on this task.
The guys on this team are sweating right now, while the new prospects are checking out
colleges, getting pampered, and soaking up adulation from fawning coaches not named Golden.

  • Its very simple the coaches feel like he is not interested...he went to FSU to camp why not UM...If he wants a free ride he'd better take that ride....I think his ego is hurt....I would have went to Africa for a full ride to UM...He has all these other colleges kissing his butt so he's not use to this...I think it's great what AG is doing....When you work for something you appreciate it more...if he is not willing to work than he dosen't belong at the U from the jump....megaphone
