Seven football players and other staff delivered 48 turkey dinners and other traditional non-perishable Thanksgiving food items Tuesday to the Greater Mercy Missionary Baptist Church in Overtown.
Players delivering the Thanksgiving meals included seniors Mike James and Brandon McGee, juniors AJ Highsmith and Akil Craig, and freshmen Tracy Howard, Deon Bush and Gray Crow. In all, 13 players and staff made the trip to Overtown, including Kelly Golden, Diona Kehoe, Valerie McNamee, Kelly Pierce, Hurlie Brown, Brandon Lumish and Ryan McNamee.
Pastor Williams of Greater Mercy Missionary Baptist Church was appreciative of the Hurricanes' special delivery Tuesday and said all the food was handed out in minutes.
A special thanks is also in order for Tim Brown from Sysco for donating the turkeys.
From the Miami Hurricanes Football family, we'd like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
