Greg Williams wanted Frank Gore's head off....SMH

  • He tried to end our boy's career in that playoff game last year.

I don't know if I'm allowed to post this link though. Forgive me, staff if this is a violation.

Gregg Williams told New Orleans Saints to hurt San Francisco 49ers in speech - ESPN

Damning audio has been released of Gregg Williams, the man who orchestrated the program, instructing his players to injure 49ers players.

  • That just disgusts me; and it's not just because they wanted Gore massively injured. There is a huge difference between things like Cane-pain, where you make sure every tackle hurts, and this, where you intentionally injure someone to such awful extents.

Football is a game of life. What you do on the field represents who you are; and doing this just indicates you are scum.

See I have no problem with Greg Williams' intensity for his defense, but he crossed the line when he started to call out certain players of his opponents, and intentionally go after there injuries or soft-spots to end their careers. He said something like "Frank Gore won't know what's in store for him"....that right there is crossing the line. No need to go after specific players and purposely take them out of games just to get a competitive advantage.

  • What he said about Crabtree was the most disturbing to me.

Here's the unfiltered audio version of what he said. [Parental Discression is Heavily Advised!]

It does not sound right but every sport does this, If Michael Jordan can not push off his sprained left ankle you force him right. If Gore has a bad wheel you bust up that wheel. they do not look at the person but just the end result which is take away a great player and your chances of winning goes up, not to mention the fact that 90% of all coaches from HS up do this. I mean you can go to christian schools and they are screaming this stuff lol.

Also how is what he did any worse then Micanor Regis coming off the top rope Macho Man Savage style with the "people's Elbow" to some guys Johnson?

  • this pisses me off really bad. i've been a niner fan for about 18 years (i'm 25) and i cant let this go, i've been ranting about this all morning on FB. ive never been on to cheer an injury to an opponent because it can easily happen to a player on the team you cheer for so this is really disturbing to target specific areas like that. the only thing they forgot was the 49ers defense is alot tougher than that fake ass tough team. i cannot wait to see them play again in 2012

I never defended Regis on that one....so they're both bad. Naturally, this is worse simply because of the extent of the injuries and number of players targeted.

  • Wow are you guys serious about this? Those are figure os speeches and are said all over the place most of you have never played before it seems. I know when I played and there best player was coming at me I sure was trying to take his head off. Football has gotten soft I thought there was too many liberals in government now I see there in football as well lol. The only difference between him and other coaches is he was a butthead that got recorded. It is ok to videotape someone elses practice to yoour advantage but you cant tell your players to do what knock a person out isnt that what you suppose to do on defense.

Man, I see a lot of people on here are quick to say whether someone has or hasn't played football before. U can just tell who hasn't did what from a message board? Do u know them personally or know of them? Not just u Richie(it's a generalization). I know people that played football from Pee Wee to High School but just aren't football intelligent. On the flip side I know of a couple that never played football but know everything about it.

The point is: How would u feel if your child(hypothetically) was one of those guys that he wanted to hurt? Football last 60 minutes but injuries can last forever. I played so I know coaches tell defenders to knock such and suchs head off or encouraging Hines Ward's type of play. That comes with the game. But when u tell people to jack up someone's ACL, trying to concuss someone or encouraging any type injuries that's BS! Maybe it's just a parental issue. But I'm sure if your child came home from a game with a broke leg after a coach instructed another kid to do so you'll be pissed

there is a big difference in playing hard and injuring someone and purposely targeting a players ACL and possibly ending someones career. there is no place for that stuff in the game and williams should be banned for life! the nfl is a fraternity/brotherhood that not every college player can reach, no reason EVER to target players. if you want to take someone out, do it legally on the field. ask pierre thomas if he caught the license plate of the truck that knocked him out on the opening drive

  • It's one thing to use figure of speeches...but he was very specific with players and body parts. This guy should never coach again.....he took it too far. I was on his side till i read this today.....it's just too far for a "professional".

Realnard you proved your point and you are right. I was just raised in an era where you left it all on the field and cracked each others head in lol. I wont take the liberals part out I still feel football has gotten soft but encouraging it should not be condoned though if it happened in the middle of a game then it was meant to be.

    Richie1

  • 95% of that recording is to motivate his defense.. The other 5 is str8 garbage to the game, but also people snitching of what's happening in locker rooms is total punanny stuff ya dig... The NFL is making the game safer by promoting snitching. Imma start a stop the snitching campaign for NFL players..

It has gotten soft or maybe we should use the word "safer". Other than Big Ben & Mike Vick the QBs can't be touched. WRs basically get to freelance after 5 yards of the LOS. Defense is the NFLs slowly dying past time. And to your first point; every coach I've played for told us to "leave it all on the field" too. Not one said to rip someone's ACL.
