  • I have a feeling the defense is going to be awesome this year faster, bigger, and with more depth watch out ACC here we come.

So true and so frustrating, because every indication is that he's a tough and talented SOB.

I wonder how much of the D's success is based on improvement and how much is just them playing the twos...

  • I agree, our defense should be awesome. Stronger, faster, more intensity and fundamentally sounder. Our rotation should be awesome too -- everyone pushing and getting better and better.

Right now, the offense looks OK; but wait 'till the freshmen arrive -- then we should see a quantum leap overall. Some talented hard nose ballers there. Again, should have a solid rotation.

I just don't feel like putting most of our faith in the incoming freshman is fair to them nor do I think it will make a HUGE improvement but we need there depth to get better

They can and some will have major impacts. It's just a matter of who.

If we have to wrap him in bubble wrap and send him out there, him being able to play at a high level is critical for the defense this year.

I agree with most positions on the field, but the two biggest positions we're lacking depth is RB and WR and those are probably the two easiest positions for a freshman to come in and play right away. As long as you don't have the RB in on obvious passing downs, so he doesn't have to pick up blitzes.
If we're going to have a successful season, we need Duke and the freshman receivers to come in and contribute...and I think they will.
I like our front seven and the fact that we have senior safeties. I'm concerned about corner, but hopefully we some more freshman can come in and do well, but freshmen, no matter how talented, get burned. Come on Howard, Bush, Gunter and co.

  • Don't expect to much from the incoming freshmen, College ball is a lot different then what they have faced in the past. It may take a year or two.

  • Do you guys remember back in the old days when we were winning championships, the defense always dominated the offense during practice...Hense when they play other teams, its was a like playing high school teams defenses. Thats what happens when you play the best. Keep it up Defense.

Completely agree. I'd love to hear that our D is whipping on the offense every possible chance...just not too much lol

  • The D was good but it was back and forth, Winlow's Battles VS. various D members was Legendary. Guys like Mcgahee was lighting it up that is how everyone knew he would be great. We had equal talent on both sides of the ball back then. But I will say this we have always been great when we had the best D in the nation, just studs that could out athlete you.
