Hey guys I hear what you saying but, on this site and other sites this guy was really crying for an offer under the old staff. I was real mad when he did not get an offer earlier because we needed DT's and guys like this that really want to be here. This is a new staff and he can't be that upset. He know what is going on with our depth. These coaches came to see him and he got that offer which was his dream. Forget what happen in the past and go head and commit. Trust me he really cried for an offer. All this I am going to hold off and wait is alot of hot air. Miami been and still in the picture. Nate you really know whats up with him. I would like to see him here.

This kid is explosive off the line. He has a nasty streak from what I have seen of his highlights. We need a kid like this. Want him to be our version of a Nick Fairley. Would fit in as a 4-3 DT, a 3-4 DE and if he gains some weight, he could be the answer at NT in the 3-4. Very happy he got an offer and we need him badly. Seems like Marquis Wright is out and Jenkins is headed with Drew to UGA. I would take this kid over Wright anyways.

Nate, do you have any idea who Randy might have been recruiting at DT? With the lack of depth, I think Randy would've tried to pull in at least 2 DT's, but I don't remember hearing about us recruiting any. In my opinion, the DT's in the 4-3 or NT in the 3-4 is the most important position on the D. Having a dominant force up the middle means OG cant double stud DE's, and if they need to bring in an extra blocker it would have to be a TE. One less target on the opposing offense gives a huge advantage. A dominate DT also makes stopping the run easy and great for our LB's. Just surprised I never heard about us recruiting a stud DT.

I'll elaborate on my initial comment that was so insightful lol. We here at ITU have been hyping this kid FOREVER, we were doing interviews with him before he had any offers like a year ago. WIth Miami's need at his position, the school he goes to, and his strong feelings for Miami, I always thought he was a no brainer for them to pursue. He's SLIGHTLY undersized, but he's super athletic and he was super productive the last 2 years (18 sacks, amazing for a DT).
I'm shocked Miami did get on him because first of all, he was neglected by the Shannon regime. On top of that, I had even heard that the Golden regime didn't like him enough to offer either. That's why I had written Elkino off in my mind and bam, it just all happened out of nowhere. Now Miami's has just as good of a chance as anyone in my mind.

Nate, quick question. I doubt that Golden has had the time to review every SoFla recruits game film and assess the entire region in one month. There has to be someone, that is familiar with SoFla HS football, that is in Goldens ear and guiding him towards some kids and giving him biased opinions on others? Would this be someone from the previous staff? Barrow or previously Hill?
Does my question hold merit or am I being a conspiracy theorist?

To answer the question about Shannon recruiting DTs, a few names were Todd Barr (Cali), Todd Peat (Arizona), Chris Mayes (Georgia), and Christian Heyward (Cali). Shannon wanted those guys bad but they were always going to be really tough gets.

Haha. That is awesome. Is he one of Goldens boys from up north? Or is he new to the SoFla landscape?
BTW, Randy wasn't going to land any of those DTs. I'm glad he's gone.

Love that this was his dream offer...it just shows that all of these local kids really want to come and play at Miami...the wall around south florida is starting to be rebuilt!!!
