What is the current update with Sony? I know he was supposed to pick next Friday (the 26th), but I am not sure if that still holds true or not. I am hearing that the battle is between us and the UGA. I truly cannot see him leaving, as he great relationships with the players down here and has always been a Cane fan.
It's All About the U
He confirmed to Barry Jackson last night he was moving forward with his announcement on the 26th... From all the national analyst opinions, I'm saying he picks UGa. Scroll down there are a few big threads going on it. (I know you're new)
Golden is better then Jimbo... I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there - fsufsu
I'm still laughing at the people on here that thought we would land Cook, Yearby, and Michel with Duke already being on the roster.
Brick by Brick
"There's going to be a lot of people who didn't stand with us who are going to be remembered for not standing with us,"
My bad. I just noticed the thread from 4/17.
FWIW, what I read on TOS, his coach made it sound like he was a Cane.
None of the analyst know anything. Mind you they said Grace was going to Louisville and Matt Thomas was all UM............. yeah
Now that Roland Smith is head coach at Central, cook is definitely in play!
Yeah, funny how that worked out...
I would love to see the kid get on board. He hasn't even been playing RB that long, and you can see how explosive he is. I want to see the 3-headed monster of Michel, Yearby, and Cook... that would be epic.
Duke is gone after their freshman year. I doubt he has a big impact.
D'onofrio is just a pawn. This is Al Golden's team and Al's defense. Al's the clown. Dorito's just the floppy shoes.
Considering they are all potential NFL Talent that 1 year is 1/3 of their college career so it has weight.
I still believe getting 2/3 of them is good possibility but never thought we had any chance at 3/3
So how does Alabama get 5 rbs every recruiting year?
It really makes me think about the years when we had Gore, Portis, and McGahee all on the same roster. They were not all in the same class, but it would be sweet to see something like this again.
Championships? Undefeated seasons? Top Conference? Recent success in putting RB's into the early rounds of the draft? Run oriented offense? Run oriented conference? I'm not saying its impossible to take 3 backs in our situation...but 3 of possibly the top 5 backs in the nation is pretty hard for any team.
So with 1 ball and a large possiblity of not playing it's ok to be a backup on a championship team. Instead of wanting to be an undefeated team at another school you want to join the machine? 1 good rb and another monster bust? Run oriented teams are the only way to make it in the NFL? The 3 backs of the top 5 is what Bama did last year and studs from years back and reality is 6 of those 10 backs will barely play so they will basically waste years of their careers their
Not saying you're wrong but each argument has a flaw i mean rb isnt like de, cb or wr only 3 at the most will play and bama has 10
We have just as good of a guess on where Sony lands as much as any recruiting analyst out there. Right now the only person that knows is Sony and his mom. Don't lose sleep over it.
Danny has spoken. Sleep easy
No I did not lose a sig bet, but I am really really really ridiculously good looking.
Is this guy an insider or are you just being facetious?
You just validated my point on why we won't take 3 top 5 running backs in same cycle. Maybe our targeted RB's are smarter than Bama which is why they are hungry to be feature backs or part of a 2 back system instead of a 9 back system. Certainly run oriented offenses aren't the only way into the NFL but if your on a team with 9rb's you'd hope the run the ball alot.
I'm joking, if you ever have a free second YouTube DannyBoyCane for sure entertainment.
I haven't read too much into the whole Sony thing, but why are the analysts all feeling UGA? Is there any concrete quote or mentions from Sony himself, or just hearsay? Are they (analysts) still thinking about the NCAA cloud? Some of the recruits that considered us last year, but opted out? I just don't get it. If there isn't concrete information, why still have a solid understanding that he's going to pick UGA?
Ya i feel like i'm arguing in circles sometimes lol. I'm a big believer in probabilities so if it were me being a RB recruit who wanted to go the NFL i would certainly list being in a class with two other top 5 recruits as a negative factor in my overall probability to be drafted regardless of whether its miami, bama, or whoever. But that's only 1 factor out of many.
No.............. i made the point that we dont have the depth that Bama does and a 3 rb system can work, I know you remember Gore, McGahee and Portis. Having 10 rbs at Bama makes no sense but the group here is good enough for all 3. I don't think we get all 3 and never did but not because of the fact that they are all top 5 guys
