Golden is better then Jimbo... I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there - fsufsu
You might be right... but they would be foolish. He runs exactly what 80% of NFL teams run.
No I did not lose a sig bet, but I am really really really ridiculously good looking.
Also I think many of you are forgetting how bad and yound are DT's were last year. When you get no push in the middle the QB has a nice comfortable pocket to sit in all day as opposed to when you have dominant DT's getting a push which causes the QB to leave the pocket and the ends to chase them down. I think our DT's wil be much improved this year which will have a big affect on the team's sack totals. Porter, Pierre, Robinson will be very good tackles in the ACC (IMO)
I just don't think we have/had any options to replace regardless of his skillset...tyriq had a couple of sacks in the last few games of the year and i really like AQ...but the rest of these guys just aren't good enough or aren't working hard enough because they are rarely mentioned. Let's not forget how few 3rd passing situations we created to begin with. If i had to guess they left shayon starting because he was the most consistent and hardest working.
Consistency and Experience > Potential and Youth
Brick by Brick
"There's going to be a lot of people who didn't stand with us who are going to be remembered for not standing with us,"
Good point.. I completely agree. Think the DT position is a lot stronger than most think. Hopefully we will get the push up front & the pocket will collapse allowing our DE to rack up.
Shayon Green sucks! I've said that since the day he signed with us
You could use a little more tact when saying it IMO.
LOL I was trying to be nice about it but this is essentially how I really feel. I don't understand how a starting DE for the great Miami Hurricanes cant accumulate 1 sack in a season where he started nearly every game. The part has me more confused is that his starting spot seems to be a lock and not threatened at all.
Who should be starting over him you think?
Whatever happened to the best players play meaning we have 3 DT guys who was having an awesome spring fighting for two spots. My opinion would be to put L. Robinson on the inside and slide OP to DE and though he 6'5 300 that seems to be the way of the newer tactics I.e. alabama, notre shame, Florida and the rest of the big boys
Corey Lemonier IMO
Me personally? Shayon, would have started but with all strength and hustle he has and after no sacks he would have had to take a seat. Our defense was trash so I would have went with one of the youngsters Jelani or Tyriq. Throw them in the fire. Let them play, go through their growing pains and learn. They have more potential.
Did you not watch them play last year? I also don't want a LB playing 4-3 DE. Thy would have played if they where better.
Shayon's snaps should have been diminished as the season progressed in favor of Tyriq and Jelani. Chick started as a true freshman at 238. Jelani weighed more than that. ......On a different subject, I guess I shouldn't expect to see Al Quadin Muhhammed in an extensive role until his junior or senior year. His weight reportedly is around 220+?
Somebody's seems butthurt. Why? Because I don't have the same opinion as you? Sure he can have an extensive roll if he's ready. Not every high ranked kid coming out of high school is ready. Chick should not have been starting as a freshman but our lack of talent left no choice.
Quick Question. If Shayon Green is not playing up to some of your guys standards than Chick shouldn't even be on the team. Shayon lead the team in tackles which means he had much for than Chick and Chick only had a few sacks. Why is no one questioning Chick??? Just a thought, it seems some of you have a predisposition against Shayon for some odd reason.
Saying Shayon Green is not a good DE because he doesn't get to the quarterback is like saying D-Wade is a terrible shooting b/c despite his production he can't shoot the 3 like a shooting guard should be able to. Production is production. I guess Gunter is our worse corner as well cause he only had 1 interception
