Per multiple sources...
"England expects that every man will do his duty."
- Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, Royal Navy
And the plot thickens lol
That's not to say they are going (yet - no official word on their end), but the BIG 10 has apparently approved their entrance - makes sense too. (AAU member and large TV market).
What sources? Its hard for me to believe that the big ten is planning on spending over $100 million to still 2 bottom ACC teams.
I think this is just more FSU BS, like last year with the big 12 crap. I think there is a group of FSU fans that want to start BS in the hope that something pans out!
You are looking at it all wrong. The addition of Maryland extended the Big10 a little further south and picked up the DC market. GT would extend way south & add the ATL market.
Both are good basketball schools (and other sports) & GT is usually pretty decent in football
Golden is better then Jimbo... I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there - fsufsu
Haven't seen or heard anything about this either... I call bs
Btw most outsiders believe they will beat the $50 million clause in court.... TIFWIW
I get that. But have you heard anything about this?
I have now lol.
Seriously though, I'd read they could be a target way back. Just speculation though. Strong academics, new market, solid athletics... Makes sense.
Are you suggesting that FSU fans are starting rumors of teams being courted by other conferences..... smh
Well if it is true which i highly doubt it, losing 2 flagship members would be terrible for the conference, but honestly i dont see Maryland beating the exit fee case because all schools agreed to sue them.
IF true, we need to abandon ship asap
It's very true - Big 10 approved the application and Ga Tech will accept. Why? I've been preaching this for the past 2 d@mn weeks - increased revenue.
Also - Ga Tech is an AAU member with the ATL TV market - easy choice.
FSU will wait on the SEC, but I suspect FSU AND Miami will head to the Big 12 with Clemson; the fourth team is the more difficult one to project; possibly BYU out west, but that is the only uncertainty.
Your acting as if it hasn't happen before! Just like last year when FSU board memebers were leaking the fact that FSU was talking with the Big 12.
Ummmmmmmm you do know that rumors are just that rumors and it happens in every fan base, website and boards..... it isn't limited or started by FSU fans as you tried to insinuate as if FSU fans are the culprit behind rumors.....
I can't believe we are arguing about spreading rumors instead of our (FSU and Miami's) inevitable move to the Big 12....
True.... I just thought it was funny that FSU fans are blamed for rumors.... so I fell for the trapped comment...
Bye,they can take that damn option to a power running conference! Peace!!!!
Money talks and BS walks!!! First off the Big Ten is one of the oldest conf. In football, they need little help promoting themselves. Second, the reason why states in the south are growing at faster pace, is because northerners are moving south, meaning they already have a huge following in those markets! That gets us back to money!
A great man once said, if you let people talk enough, they'll show their true meaning! This post here says it all!!! Miami can't even build its self a damn stadium, so what makes you think we're going to spend $50 million to make a extra 2-3 million a year, if that?
This conference realignment crap makes me sick! It's all about money. People don't care about tradition n rilvary anymore.
Tuck I'm always on board with your post but you are clueless as to how this works. Let's say we leave and go to the ___ (SEC, Big10/12) we won't pay a dime. IF it holds up in court and the $50 million has to be paid, it will be covered by our new conference. That's what has been happening in all these other cases and will continue to happen in the future. Fact.
As far as the Big 10 being established in the South, that only helps further establish them.. Think if you are from Ohio, live in Miami and can go watch your beloved Buckeyes play every other year in a stadium 20 minutes away... Same for Michigan, Penn St, etc. It also is appealing in recruiting because the kids would be growing up in Big10 country & the idea of playing in that conference wouldn't be as foreign.. giving coaches a huge foot in the door.
Why would GT president approve the suit if they were thinking of leaving? Where would GT be able to be in a championship game at 6-6.
Under Armour is fitting the bill to get Maryland to the Big 10.
If we do leave for the big 12 with FSU and Clemson I think notre dame bails on the ACC and becomes that fourth team.
