Coach McDonald's take on our new WR's.........

  • Coach McDonald is more than excited about this group of WR's comming in- here's his take on them.....
    #1- Lockhart- Competitor
    #2- Waters- Dynamic
    #3- Jones- Leaper
    #4- AJL- Atheletic
    #5- Carter- Determined
    #6- Lewis -" THE MAN "
Coach say's all of them have a chance. We lost Street so the taller guys will fill that immediate need. We could end up playing 5 new receivers this year. The great part about leaving for the NFL for UM was day's like this. We can go out and recruit the best receivers in the entire country and they will come. Coach McDonald is excited about coaching'em up.
And if I was the coach, I would be excited too. These are gonna be some dynamic playmakers my friends and that's why our O won't miss a beat. In fact, I think we'll be better and set some Freshman records. Gonna be some walking the dog when these kids get going !!

  • At this point, I think they will all have a role one way or the other in the coming years! I think Lewis is a stud, Lockhart will be a workhorse, Jones and Carter (Red Zone), Waters-playmaker, and AJL well he will be AJL a beast! It will be interesting to see what becomes of these kids! Can't wait until 2012!

  • I was at the National Signing Day party at The U last night. All of the position coaches played a video of their recruits and talked about each one individually. Coach McDonald was ECSTATIC about Malcolm Lewis and thinks Lewis is an absolute stud. He went on to say that Lewis is the most under-rated WR in the country. He said Lewis is the best WR in FL and one of the Top 5 WRs in the country.

Needless to say, Coach McDonald thinks VERY HIGHLY of Malcolm Lewis.

lol- Yep Molina- I believe we hit big with the WR's this year. And with our QB's, should have some big #'s this year. RW & Morris needs to get that OL together, watch film of who we will play this year and get to work. I want to see somebig time production this year. We got the talent so, let's get at it!!!!

  • Malcolm Lewis is my favorite probably.

Angelo Jean-Louis has been up there though since his great week at UA.

Normally I tend to prefer the big receivers. (Andre Johnson) But Malcolm... That dude is a monster. I would say he is my favorite in this class and then Carter. I expect big things REAL soon!!

Even our smallest WR Dorsett, is not as small as TB so, Lewis and AJL although not the biggest- will be huge weapons. my man.

Scott has very good size. He's definately not the smallest.

  • Yeah Molina- a typo era, I meant Lewis is 1 of the smallest but, like Chris said- Dorsett and I forgot about him being so small. And I didn't know Kendal was that small, I thought he was 6' ft or better. But I'm just excited to watch these kids get at it. I know they will be worked on with route running and technique but, I believe all of them can catch unlike some of the ones who just left. They had the dropsies early in their career and look at Street, 1 yr with these coaches and it was like he had stickem on his hands. Coach McDonald has done a great 1st yr and that should be an indication on what we can look for in the future. I believe every class, AG will try and sign 1 to 2 - 6'4's or better. He like that size and you need a couple this day in time but it's also nice to have those burners like UM has always had. I just think this program will exceed expectations because AG is a master motivator and with these kids confidence level- that's a lethal combination !!! TD after TD- Can't wait !!

  • personally i'm really excited to see AJL, the kid just looks like a natural. hes big, fast, strong and has incredible hands. i'm anxious to see them blend with the receivers already on the team like dorsett, hurns and scott. dorsett and lewis in the slot are gonna be a nightmare!

  • Like I said- I really believe we hit on the WR's this year and we should expect some great catches with alot of production from them. And 1 of the things I noticed last year about our WR's was, way better blocking down field so, you can tell that was from coaching and I look for that to be a big notice on our Receivers early, being taught to block and perfect their route running. They will be an exciting young group.

And I would like to know why was I down voted for the blog above this one. It was true that our WR's had some trouble early in their careers dropping the ball. We got alot of critisism from the guys calling the games on our receivers dropping passes. The prettiest throw last yr was when Morris heaved it bout 60 yards and right in TB's hands for a TD and he dropped it. So I don't know why that blog would deserve a down but, whatever.

I want to temper my expectations of these kids. I thought I would never see a WR recruiting class haul like we had in 08. Lets review:

    Aldarius Johnson - Dismissed
Davon Johnson - non factor, constantly hurt, now a corner
Tommy Streeter - slow to catch on, one good year
Travis Benjamin - most consistent but nothing great, may be a 6/7th round draft pick
LaRon Byrd - peaked sophomore year, disappointment
    Kendall Thompkins - practice player
Thearon Collier - cried then transferred

Hopefully two or three of these guys pan out for us but to expect all of them to is not realistic after the disaster we had with this class.
