CFB Spring Blitz: Draft Special

  • Ok fans its the first time in a while I hear UM being a topic on a TV show, other then for something bad.... I think the topic was "what happen to UM since the Glory days" But Rod Gilmore had 3 (True/False) questions.... 1. Will UM win more than 7 games this year? True, I think he said we'll win no more than 8. 2. Will Al Golden win a ACC title while a coach at UM? False, he stated because of the way teams in the ACC is starting to load up with the recruiting, basically saying teams are starting to pass us up in the recruiting game... 3. Is UM in the top 3 in the state of Florida? True, but third behind UF, and FSu... So for me, what I got out of that is that a lot espn people really believe UM is over with... They speak about UM like we're over, no type of return... I really see them being shock in the upcoming year... I see why it's so hard for AG to get top notch recruits piling in at UM, with people always downing the U, it makes it that much hard to recruit... But like I said before, 2012 will begin to open eyes for the U... Golden will change to culture at UM!!!!

  • I agree my friend!!! I understand FSu finishs with better records than UM but I don't understand why every year people expect so much from them... Because every year they expect so much from them and by game 4 or 5 they are out of the title talks....

    I think this season is huge for Jimmy Bob.

    Free Shoes has the most talented team they've seen in over a decade and their schedule as of right now is as easy as you could possibly ask for.

    They didn't lose a single player early to the draft this year which is borderline unheard of in today's game. I think in 2013 they could lose several. Next years team ain't gonna be as good as this years team.

    The time is right now for Jimmy Bob to make some hay and give himself breathing room.

    Free Shoes fans act like the dude fell off the turnip truck the day he became head coach there. He was the OC and publicly named HCIW for several years before he moved into Pappy's office. He recruited EJ Manual and has coached him this entire time. His finger prints have been all over their offense for HALF a decade.

    His ascension to the head coach position was as smooth as any coach has ever seen. The Free Shoes brass made sure of that by going so far as to humiliate the program's legendary architect.

    He's in year three and his team is stocked with a punk butt schedule to boot. It might never look as great as it does right now for them.

    Actually they have some pretty exclusive wrs n Devonta Freeman at rb is a stud imo

    I know right I'd take devonte quick he never shoulda been wit fsu anyway(randy fault) and there loaded at wr. They have a gang of good wr out of the state of Miami. Rodney Smith, Kelvin Benjamin, dude from Tampa I can't think of. Rashad Greene, smh

    exactly! but lets think things through also, nebraska, ND, Michigan, PSU, UTenn all have been in the same situation in the past 3 years. Alabama, Auburn and many others before that. its a cycle. people act like teams have the market cornered. what has clemson done with all the "amazing" recruits they get? the only consistent teams over the past 15 years that come to my mind are Texas, OU, USC, and VT. USC got hit with scandal, Texas has fallen on tough times in the win column.. nothing is a guarantee. its about getting guys that fit your gameplan. get the guys ya need.

    Trust guys I have been a canes fan since 1985! And I mean buying mags, because there was no Internet, and reading the news papers. The canes have always been looked down on and their recruiting classes never get the pub that FSU and UF get, but we have the rings! That's Why I feel so strongly that we'll be back sooner before later, because I remember reading back in 95 and 96 the same things that writers are saying now and I was scared to death back then. They were always talking about the canes will never be what they were, because Jimmy was gone and Erickson couldn't recruit. We could fill the stands. Our stretch of first round picks was snapped.... Then we upset UCLA and never looked back, so just do like I did back then. I sat throughout the entire games against FSU when the were just killing us and my friends, FSU fans, were killing me! But the just gave me that much pleasure when we got back on top and i was there for the ride! What we're going through is nothing new! We will be back!

  • I agree with amps truck, I've followed the Canes I believe since 1976' when I was in junior high, an we have never had all American recruiting classes but we have had lots of all American players, people forget that a lot of schools go thru cycles when they are down , hell I remember when Alabama was down an penn state wanted to fire Coach joe paterno, when Texas wasn't winning big an when the gators were suffering under Charlie Pell, everybody experience down years I think this team will surprise a lot of people, heck if our defense was half way decent last year we would have finished 8-4. So just remember we are a private school who leads the State of Florida with 5 National Titles, the most pro bowl players in the league, the most First round draft picks in a single year,an We Are The U.
