  • hey guys, what would you do in my situation?

get a chummy minimum wage job over the summer?

or get a non-paid internship with the football team?

Do you NEED the money a summer job would bring?

What do you want to do after you're finished with school?

  • Why not work as an equipment manager?

    GoCanes

  • I don't see why you can't do both... Just find a different job that will agree with your schedule.

Golden is better then Jimbo is. I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there. -fsufsu

    Three questions:

    1) who is the minimum wage job with?
    2) where are you applying (med school)?
    3) what is your back up plan?

Initially I say work for UM. It'll look a lot better on a resume and the experience will be more fulling. Remember, as you get older what separates you from your competition are life experiences. Don't want to assume without knowing what your other option is.

1: at the UM library stacking books
2: i'm going to the UM Med school starting 2013. (accepted)

the library job and the internship both require at least 30 hours i think. after all, it's summer. don't want to work 60 hours!

  • Do what is going to make you happier. 7.67 x 30 = $230 before taxes. Not worth it if you'll be dreading it everyday. You love UM and you love UM football. That will be a fulfillling life experience and one that will allow you to branch out more diversely in future endeavors. Just my opinion though. You know your situation better than I do.

End of discussion then take the paying job.

If the internship doesn't provide you a real opportunity to network with people that you may vary well need to know in the future then it ain't worth being broke over.

  • Take the internship we only get these chances once it might be hard at times but maybe this turns into something bigger.

aaaaw man you crushed my hopes; money comes and goes, but that experience of working with the football team will last you a life-time. On top of that you could of been everybody's insider on this website being able to debunk whatever rumors that arises along with bragging rights. Network is way better than minimum wage money in my opinion, on top of that you're going to be banking in couple more years...DOCTOR ! Think about it son, once in a life time, don't sleep on the U!

  • Get paid doing research instead of the library job. I would apply to be a lab tech at bascom palmer. I'm also finishing up at UM med school so feel free to msg. Research is huge, esp if you get published, esp at bascom

  • Hard to turn down money when in need. But remember this, you will never have this opportunity again. And the incredible chance to have inside access to our FB team and helping in recruiting...you will make friendships with prominent people that one day could benefit you greater than you can imagine. Push comes to shove, could you really tough it out to make it one memorable season? Get a night shift elsewhere that pays more than 7 per hour. Strapping your time Im sure, but I stress to you as a 25 year old who will never have the opportunity you DO have, think about it seriously. My days of dreaming are over, don't waste a chance at something like this.
