Recruiting Roundtable: Excitement

Artie Burns

Artie Burns is a two-sport star that will be fun to follow at Miami.

Read here as the InsideTheU staff shares which Miami commit in the 2013 class excites them the most.

    • Hey you guys are forgetting BEAU.......
      Your thoughts on him

      JOCANE78197

    • I completely agree on Artie Burns I'm real excited to watch him play. Him and Duke and Kick returner would be crazy too. But if we get Thomas, he will be the one I look forward to watching the most

A big TE that can run and catch...look what they do to NFL defenses.

    • I have to go with two, Ufomba Kamalu (very underrated) & Devante Bond because their JUCO's and the defense was terrible. I wonder how much of an impact these two JUCO's can make.

    • These couple of guys mentioned are "exciting" because they bring elite athletic ability to the Football Field. I concur with the staff.

    • Jamal Carter is one of my favorite recruits in years and I feel that he is under rated! By the time he leaves the u people will be comparing future recruits to him.

      blackmac1982

    • I am most excited about AQM

      grogz26

    • Just for reference, I went with Jamal, but the others I gave consideration to were Artie, Beau, and Muhammad.

      Nate Adelson

    • Man the way Carter is built & the speed he has too-arriving at a WR full speed is gonna be a bad day for that dude & that gives us 2 big time head hunters back there with Bush. Those 2 will be the most feared in the conference as I see Carter passing the 3 in front of him & bring right behind Bush waiting for his shot. That kid when get's on the weights is gonna be a punisher that will make us say "WOW" with every hit-CAN'T WAIT!!

And the 1 I have said since committed will be the surprise of this class wil be FIGS- He is another thumper that I believe sees a lot of PT & sure enough will be on ST's-He's another that at full speed when he arrives-won't be nice when he get's there-The kid just has that look in his face he is all about it & I personally believe AG hit big time on this kid. Another CAN'T WAIT !!!

      CHAMP SEEKER

    • I would have to agree with both Jamal and Artie.. If they are as good as advertised then our defensive backfield is set for the next 3-4 years and we can focus on the D-line and Linebackers..

      alfigueroa22652

    • I for one am excited about AQM, what he can bring for the Pass Rush is exactly what we need. I really feel that if he can get his weight up to 245 he will really excell this year.

I think this is the type player down the road will be an elite pass rusher and somebody who will also be strong against the run and his ideal weight will
      range in the 260-265 range.

      Redzulu

    • Beau Sandland cuz if you look at his tape he flashes the same skill set that Gronkowski possesses in terms of speed, size, strength, and toughness after the catch.

      Zcanes78

    • Burns is easily our best defensive commit. But if we land Bostwick, I think we will have a couple 1st rounders in waiting. Crazy early statement. But Burns and Bostwick are phenomenal players. Huge boost

Hey I wouldn't put him past Jenkins either. That kid showed he can ball and hit n cover he has a definite chance to start as long as he Continues to progress and keep on with the play book. Kid could be a monster.
Now I like Carter alot also and can see him competing with Bush n Jenkins for PT. It coulld be interesting this fall, with him enrolling in summer to fall we all know it'll put him behind the curve so don't exoect a starter day 1. I'd love to see this kid on specials coverage as a head hunter! Boom shakalka!

At almost 6'3" and 215 pounds, power cleans 270 and squats with well over 400. He has the physical tools to start tight away. Reminds me physically of those guys who make up the Seattle Seahawks defensive backfield- "Legion of Boom"

Carter is about 6'1 205 right now he will play day 1 and push Jenkins for playing time early.

    • OT Kirkland is a guy that may see some playing time as a freshman . He moves well with his feet and already has major college football strength 400 bench and 535 squat. Flowers was surprising last year with a lot of playing time that will come in handy this year.

      stoutbeast

    • I said earlier in the year the most important recruits this cycle where big 6, Kevin Olsen, and Artie burns so I am really excited about the two we have especially burns because he can be the perfect compliment to tracy as they both get older and develop.

      GHSquaredRJH32

    • Artie Burns and Jamal Carter will have limited impact if our DL situation doesn't get better. Hard to get excited about the secondary when I fear for our DL. I think Sandland is the most exciting, he will make the red zone automatic TD's.

      pjamcanes

    • I have to agree with ItalianaCane. If we're talking about this season, I have to be most excited about Kamalu and Bond. We need help on the defensive front 7 immediately and I believe these two are most capable of doing just that this year. And of course, Beau is gonna be huge on the other side of the ball

      BigCane

    • you are exactly right pjama

      BigCane

    • "he has to be allowed to play at the line and use his size to his advantage. If he’s not allowed to play press coverage a majority of the time, he can be exposed in space and thus losing his effectiveness."

"He was the best defensive back to utilize the jam on his team and if receivers did get a release off of his jam"

Well it's a good thing we don't line our corners up anywhere from 10 to a 100 yards off the ball.......kid will be a ghost here if defensive coaching adjustments aren't made.
