Miami Wins Ugly vs. Maryland, 54-47

The University of Miami slugged out an ugly 54-47 win against Maryland Sunday night to move to 3-0 in the ACC.

Power forward Kenny Kadji led the Hurricanes with 14 points and five rebounds. Guard Trey McKinney-Jones had an impressive all-around performance with 12 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

Maryland's Dez Wells and Alex Len combined to score 34 of the Terrapins' 47 points. Maryland shot 31-percent from the floor, but Miami wasn't much better. The Hurricanes finished the game making 35-percent of their shots from the field.

The Hurricanes (12-3, 3-0) are off to their best ever start in ACC play since joining the conference. Miami is tied with N.C. State at the top of the ACC standings.

Both teams struggled to score in the first half with Miami holding a 19-14 lead at halftime. Maryland shot just 21-percent from the field in the first half while the Hurricanes weren't much better, converting on 28-percent of their shots.

The Hurricanes held a 19-11 lead over the Terrapins with 4:43 remaining in the first half as Miami failed to score again before halftime. Kadji led Miami going into halftime with six points.

Miami will travel to Boston College (9-7, 1-2) on Wednesday to take on the Eagles at 7 PM EST. The game will be televised on ESPN3.
