The University of Miami won their second straight ACC road game Thursday night at North Carolina, 68-59.
UM's other big man, Julian Gamble, stepped in nicely for the injured Reggie Johnson, who has missed his sixth straight game with a sprained left thumb. Gamble totaled 14 points, six rebounds, and three blocks against North Carolina and was a big reason why the Hurricanes controlled the paint.
North Carolina was led by James McAdoo, who totaled 14 points on 5-of-14 shooting and Reggie Bullock, who scored 11 points on 4-of-16 shooting.
Neither team could create much separation throughout the game until the Hurricanes took a 64-55 lead with three minutes remaining thanks to a quick 8-0 spurt that proved to be too much for the Tar Heels to overcome.
Miami trailed 32-30 at halftime. Kadji led Miami after the first half with 10 points and five rebounds along with one block. Scott had eight points during the first half.
The Hurricanes have now opened their ACC schedule with a 2-0 record, which is the first time Miami done so since joining the league in 2004-05. The last time Miami beat North Carolina was 2006.
Miami will return to the Bank United Center on Saturday for an 8 PM matchup against Maryland, who is coming off a 65-62 loss to Florida State. Before that loss to the Seminoles, the Terrapins had won 13 straight games.
