CB Bethel Flips To Texas Tech

Booker T. Washington cornerback Nigel Bethel has switched his commitment from Miami to Texas Tech.

Bethel (5-9, 175) gave his pledge to the Hurricanes on July 19th. He took an official visit to Texas Tech on September 20th.

“I just officially committed to the University of Texas Tech Raiders!” Bethel tweeted on Thursday night. “No longer a University of Miami commit”

Bethel took his official visit to Miami on December 13th.

Bethel is rated a three star prospect by 247Sports. Two of his Booker T. Washington teammates, Chad Thomas and Demetrius Jackson, are committed to the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes now have 27 commitments in the 2014 class. Northwestern prospect Ryan Mayes is currently the only cornerback that Miami has committed in the class.

Bethel is the second recruit to decommit from Miami within the last week. Defensive tackle Travonte Valentine decommitted last Saturday while coach Al Golden flirted with the Penn State opening.

Bethel finished his junior season with 28 tackles and two interceptions. He is one of the top 200 meter track runners in the country.
